Gefilte Flicks

Rabbi Deborah Bodin Cohen—9 p.m.

Movie Short and Discussion Join in a lively discussion about family heritage and traditions and changes between the generations.  We will watch and discuss the short movie ‘Gefilte Fish’.  Come with your stories of family celebrations and continuity.  Part instructional, part allegorical, the short movie Gefilte Fish is a chronicle of Jewish-American life. Filmmaker Karen Silverstein captures three generations of women talking about, and demonstrating how they make gefilte fish. In this short documentary, the recipes and traditions are explained by women of different generations, who, despite varying degrees of technology and tradition, see family and heritage as central to their lives.
