100 Days of Impact: Week 9

We engage women in South Jersey. Spring is here! That means it's time for The Event for Women, the Jewish Federation's largest philanthropic event during the year. At this year's event, we are so lucky to have an amazing guest speaker and program that will engage women across all generations in South Jersey.

Melissa Rivers, daughter of the legendary Joan Rivers, will be the speaker at this year's Event for Women. Melissa Rivers is not just the daughter of Joan Rivers, but she is a hardworking Hollywood force. She is an accomplished equestrian, University of Pennsylvania graduate, television producer, and a single mother.

The Event for Women is not the only the programming dedicated to women. The Jewish Federation offers programs that engage women all year long. From author presentations and speakers to valuable social action projects, the power of women is very strong in this community. In fact, by the end of 2015, the majority of our agencies will be led by female presidents. We feel it is so important to highlight the power of women in philanthropy.

Successful women's campaigns are very important. When women give in their own name, the importance of tzedakah is demonstrated to their families. Women who give in their own name increase their credibility and power as leaders and policy makers. Women's giving demonstrates that women are knowledgeable philanthropists who understand how to exercise their power to make a difference through giving. It demonstrates women's dedication and dedication of responsibility for the needs of the global Jewish community.

Every year, The Event for Women features a program we feel passionate about in our community as its Mitzvah Project. This year, we will be collecting gently used clothing and accessory items for the Jewish Federation's Mobile ReSale Boutique, a charitable pop up store that brings second-hand shopping to area businesses and organizations. All proceeds from the Mobile ReSale Boutique benefit the programs and services of the Jewish Federation. We hope you will join us at this year's Event for Women featuring Melissa Rivers on April 29, 2105 at Congregation Beth El in Voorhees.
