The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and the Jewish Federation of Princeton Mercer Bucks Form New Alliance

(October 1, 2024) – The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey (JFSNJ), led by Jennifer Dubrow Weiss, CEO and the Jewish Federation of Princeton Mercer Bucks (JFPMB), led by Mark Merkovitz, Executive Director, today announced the establishment of an alliance, effective October 1, 2024.

The alliance will create a stronger Jewish connection for individuals in these counties through enhanced programs, services and special events while providing each other with shared, mutually beneficial resources.  The two Federations encompass four counties in New Jersey –  Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, and Mercer, as well as Bucks County, PA –  representing 65k Jewish households.

“We are thrilled to enter into this partnership with our friends at the Federation of Princeton Mercer Bucks and we look forward to creating and providing programs and services to our now expanded Jewish community, particularly to our populations of older adults, those with diabilities, and teens,” said Dubrow Weiss.  “We are confident that this alliance demonstrates we are truly better and stronger together.”

“Joining together with the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey provides us with a greater public voice, increasing our reach to help and engage more individuals,” added Merkovitz.  “Since October 7, 2023, the Jewish world has changed and we know that Jews are looking for ways to be united and more connected.   Collaborating on initiatives such as fighting antisemitism, offering meaningful Jewish programs to unaffiliated families and providing vital support to Israel and Jewish communities throughout the world demonstrate our strengths coming together for the greater good.”

“Our Jewish communities have changed, particularly this past year, and collaboration is paramount. Our partnership with Southern New Jersey on many fronts, particularly security through the community model designed by JFed Security, has demonstrated our commitment to our communities and ensures we are safe,” said Brian Chevlin, President, JFPMB.

“I am looking forward to seeing how our programs and services continue to align with our shared vision to make our communities a more vibrant, engaging place to live.  There is so much to offer and much value to be had in our combined efforts,” added Ed Rivkin, President, JFSNJ.

JFSNJ and JFPMB are among the 146 independent Federations of the Jewish Federations of North America’s network, whose mission is to protect and enhance the well-being of Jews worldwide through meaningful contributions to community, Israel and civil society.
